A joyful return to the recording studio

I was extremely grateful to spend the last two days in the recording studio, collaborating with my friends William Carn and Tara Davidson on their latest Carn-Davidson 9 album. It’s a remarkable feeling to be back in a studio, live and in person, after 15 months of musical isolation.

This new album is a special one for William and Tara, as it features a set of two suites which tell stories from their respective families. The emotional narratives are very powerful in this highly intricate and nuanced music. For those unfamiliar with this band, it’s seven horns, bass and drums; very inventive stuff.

I encourage you to check out the new album when it’s released this fall. Look for us at the Rex in Toronto from November 24-27; see the Events pages for more info.
