Jazz In Guelph
Thanks to David Restivo, Morgan Childs and Mike Downes for a fabulous afternoon in Guelph! We performed some of my quartet music for an attentive, enthusiastic audience at the MacDonald Stewart Art Gallery at the University of Guelph yesterday.
My New Studio Recording, "Identity", Due Late 2012
I'm happy to report that I've finally secured a studio date for my new recording, "Identity". This recording will feature Dave Restivo (piano), Mike Downes (bass), Mark Kelso (drums), and some surprise special guests!

Cabaret, Latin Jazz and African Jazz
I just finished a wonderful show at Hugh's Room with the lovely Suzana da Camara Cabaret. The band plays a mix of jazz and Latin music, and Suzana sings in English, French and Portugese. She's definitely one to watch!
JPEC Tentet, Maria Schneider, Don Thompson
October has been an action-packed month for me! I had a wonderful two weeks of concerts, the first with the Don Thompson Big Band, and the second with the Humber Faculty Big Band featuring Maria Schneider. Preparing Maria's music was a challenge, but the concert came together well.
Performances in Toronto and Sudbury
Look for me at the Rex in Toronto on Labour Day weekend with my new quartet! We will also be performing at the Jazz Sudbury Festival the following week.
Recording Some New Music
I just went into the studio with Toronto musicians Dave Restivo, Larnell Lewis and Mike Downes, to record some new original music. Looking forward to sharing it with all of you soon!
Bob Mintzer and The Humber Faculty Big Band
I'll be performing with the great Bob Mintzer and the Humber Faculty Big Band in October.
Tour With Mr. Something Something
Look for me in late June and July, with Afrobeat band Mr. Something Something! We'll be touring through Northern Ontario, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
Musicfest Canada
I'm excited to be heading to Ottawa in mid-May to adjudicate at Musicfest Canada!
Next Generation Jazz Festival
I will be adjudicating and performing at the Next Generation Jazz Festival in mid-February, and joining Alex Dean's quintet at the Rex for several dates in March. Hope you can make it!

Happy New Year! I'm excited to start a new semester at Humber College, and some new projects around town. Look for me at the Rex and Gate 403 with Darryl Orr in January, and with Alex Dean in March.

Dates in Toronto and North Bay area for December. I will be performing with Dave Restivo at the Old Mill on December 5th, and at Renee's Cafe in South River on December 19th.
John Clayton, 2009 Humber Composer-In-Residence
Important update…the 2009 Humber Composer-In-Residence is the great bassist John Clayton!! Come see the Humber Faculty Big Band perform the music of John Clayton on October 16th at the Humber Lakeshore Auditorium. Also, look for some new Fall and Winter dates, featuring my new duo project with the amazing Dave Restivo on piano.
New Year At Humber College
The year has begun at Humber College! I'm really excited to meet a new crop of students, start teaching, exploring Toronto, and getting re-connected with friends and family!
Back To Toronto!
I have now officially moved back to Toronto! It's nice to be home, after 7 years in the States, studying and teaching. Looking forward to reconnecting with musical colleagues and friends, and excited to start the new year as the Director of Theory and Harmony at my alma mater, Humber College.
