Identity is the JUNO-nominated album from baritone saxophonist Shirantha Beddage, available on Addo Records. The Shirantha Beddage quartet, featuring Dave Restivo, Mike Downes, and Mark Kelso, is heavily featured on a variety of Shirantha’s original compositions, reflecting a complex mix of emotional states and moods. The record also features special guests Nathan Eklund and Larnell Lewis. Compositions from this album, “Baker’s Dozen” and “Winds of Change” were selected for the Galaxie Rising Star award at the 2013 Montreal International Jazz Festival.
